Yen

Ki Yoga Serangoon Teacher Yen
Most people today know Yen as a gentle, soft-spoken yoga teacher, but he used to be a hard-nosed journalist working for The Straits Times.  As a SPH overseas scholar, Yen graduated from Columbia University in New York and was on his way to become one of the paper’s youngest editors.
That all changed when his partner died of cancer. He left the newsroom and became increasingly interested in yoga and mental health, eventually becoming certified as a yoga instructor. Through yoga, Yen has slowly begun to make peace with his past trauma, and continues to work on himself on his personal journey.
In his classes, Yen hopes to inspire his students to reflect on the changes they want to see in their lives, and to work towards embodying those changes.
He believes in helping students create a safe and meaningful practice in which they can discover new pathways to build functional strength, flexibility, and self-love.
